Dyckia grandidentata and its flower

Look at this atemptively and you will know this comes from a plant that lives way into the Cerrado area just observing these flowers here. You may see or note the old already dried out masculine parts. They all opened wide to offer their pollen to the insects and birds.
Nothing is senseless in nature.
Nature does not waste energy.
In wilderness the fittest does not survive. In a contantly changing environment there is no place fot the fittest. Simply ´cause the fittest dyes soon in a new enviroment. They have to have some way to answer to the environment changes.
The fittest never go far in nature.
All populations must have some oddities and these oddities are the key to salvation, the ticket to the future. The fittest creature are always lost when its environment changes.
One big populations have always individuals that has a larger nose, a bigger brain, longer snout, better hearing..and so on and on.
Perfection in nature is a fatal mistake!
Dyckias are all at great risk simple ´cause there are no big population of most species. Some species as Dyckia ibiramensis are in the greatest risk. One dozen individuals will not be enough to face future. Even if we reproduce it carefully it won´t be enough simply ´cause there won´t be weird and odd individuals enough to face future changes in their environment.
If a collector takes one single plant from that population this guy is threatening the species to its total disappearing: EXTINCTION
This is forever! Extinction is forever!

Dyckia grandidentata lives in an area where the atmosphere total humidity is lower than that of central Sahara in Africa. The petals do not open. The flower just vomit the masculine parts. Look even the masculine parts are not opened. Do you know why? Today it is raining and there is no pollinator around when it rains. Smart? Yes, that is very clever indeed.
Some Dyckia flowers do not open fully to preserve humidity for the feminine organ the ovarium.

Dyckias are amazing creatures!!!!
We know almost nothing about them!!
