Dyckia pectinata

Dyckia pectinata

Rare even in nature! Pectinata means like a comb and it really is.
Its spines are soft as those of the bigger Southern Dyckia delicata.
In nature this Dyckia population suffered the attack of Antracnosis a disease brought to them by a rest stop Sugar cane juice Vendor. The disease came with the pineapple crowns dumped in the wilderness by this vendor.
All the population in the wilderness is at great risk.
The plant grows close to the East border of Minas gerais State to Rio de Janeiro State.
In nature this plant won´t go any further.
It´s seeds are velvety like.
