Dyckia marnier-lapostollei
This may be a new variety of this botanic Brazilian jewel for it was fount inside the limits of our Federal District of Brasília.
Recently some new populations were found even North of our Federal District.
All populations are small and the plant is threatened everywhere in nature.
With just a bunch of individuals any population will face extinction sooner or later.
Simply ´cause there is not enough genetic differences in there. The species can not cope with a big eventual change in their environment.
Genetic richness is dependable of a large population.
Populations of few tend to disappear.
