Dyckia fosteriana

Here I want you to observe two things:
The emitting flowers stalks and the plant scales.
This plant hes was under continuous rain for two days and one night and
lost most of its scales. Washed Dyckia fosterianas can recover their appealing appearance.
Their white looks can be back. They will get back sooner if the plant is left to dry a bit.
Scaling is a protective process and the plant takes this as a time to protect itself from the scorching sun that usually comes in dry times.
Also there seem to exist a limit for this recovering. Scaling process is much alike the process our
skin has in order to cover our body with a layer of keratin. We all have keratin covering our skin and our mucosa. In some areas this layer is thicker that others just like on this plant.
Understanding the way Dyckias cope with their environment is crucial for the Dyckia keeper achieve better results.
We ought to know what we´ve got under our skin, literally. ( For those who may not understand this expression: to get under the skin is the same as to have under control.)
We have our Dyckias under our control so we got them under our skin.
( Humm... me... here I am explaining the English language to who... Oh my! It is just like to try to teach Michelangelo how to paint.)
