Dyckia sp Pedra Branca - Tabaí - Rio Grande do Sul



This purple coloration is an unique characteristic of some Dyckias native to Rio Grande do Sul.
This extremely ornamental detail appears in some species as Dyckia alba, Dyckia sp Caxias do Sul, Dyckia sp São Marcos and Dyckia sp Vila Cristina and some others species.
There are reports of a Dyckia presenting half the central area with this kind of purple/blueish color. This Dyckia species is said to occur on rocks atop a hill in Central Rio Grande do sul in the area of Caçapava do Sul. The plant is has the size of a soccer ball and very compact with many many leaves. Reports are always intriguing.
