Dyckia brevifolia is not a closed stable species as once was thought.

Above: The Subida form of Dyckia brevifolia. This plant bears yellow flowers.
This a robust and light colored Dyckia brevifolia.
Subida is a Village on the Itajaí-açu River side. It is a truly paradisian place.

Above this is the well known Golden Glow Dyckia brevifolia.
This is a spectacular man made varigated Dyckia brevifolia.
It can be almost whole golden and the very same plant may change the amount
and the intensity of gold. Always a very attractive and desired plant.

Above: This lemon Dyckia brevifolia is something to wow wow wow.
Spines are bigger than expected. This color is found in some wild populations and it seems not to be due to any excess of Sun exposing, lack of humidity or any nutrient.

Above: The type form of Dyckia brevifolia bears wide leaves in a very attractive rosette.
The spine arrangement made the American guys, always imaginative minded, know this species as saw blade Dyckia.

Dyckia brevifolia may present some new looks.
Once it was believed this Dyckia species was stable and genetic closed.
Nothing is so in whole nature. Every living creature is open to dialogue!!
A living perfection is made of many imperfections spread all over any population.
Those imperfections are the species guarantee of success and adaptation to new condition
imposed by the constant changing in all and every habitat.
We are eternal learners of ourselves and our surroundings.
When we think we know all or enough we have only just begun.
The above plant bears intense dark orange flowers we say red flowered Dyckia brevifolia.
Below we see a nice new golden cultivar seedling.
Here it is sharing the same conditions as others to get to know if this effect is produced by any lack of nutrients or
this is a local determination.
