Dyckia gloriosa and its golden hooks

Dyckia gloriosa

It is about to bloom by the second time.
The plant is self fertile!
Just a tiny portion of the seedlings is this strikingly colored but
it is much too soon to affirm. The seedlings from the first blooming
are yet too small.
The plant seems to reflect IR and UV sun rays in different amounts according
to unknown acquaintances.
It can be rich wine to deep red. The mechanism that directs this is strange to me.
