Dyckia sp - Lagoão - Rio Grande do Sul

Dyckia sp Lagoão - RS

A very beautiful new species. Here you see it in its winter clothes.
When the sun stands for longer in the sky, from late Spring to late Autumn
This plant is strikingly colored. The winter greens is a way the plant
has to fight bach the migger Sun. Simply the plant uses more chloroplasts to get more energy from the weak light of winter. The chloroplast take the sun energy for the plant to form and hold sugar.
In the background you can see Blooming Dyckias fosteriana.
