Bateias de Baixo is a very small village in Northeastern Santa Catarina State in Brazil.
There uphills beautiful small week end leisure farms turn the place a kind of tropical Shan-gri-la of the novel Lost Horizon of James Hilton.
(There is a movie picture, 1973, and the songs are Burt Bacharach.
It is worth to see it or better yet read the book.)
In winter the weather may be very cold for Brazilian patterns and even occasional snow may be seen very once in a while.
This plant is extremely rare and lives well guarded deep into one leisure farm.
The plant is medium sized and pinkish red leaved.
A show plant, a dream Dickia no doubt.
This one came out from Shan-gri-la without getting old and turning into ashes, like in the novel.
