The dark layer is made of burned grasses.
Thousands and thousands of years and uncountable fires made this.
This is a native grass, Brazil is poor of prairies. We are not as Africa and this explains the fact we do not have those African animals. We do not have herbivores, so the lions are not here.
Our big felines are within the bushes. Here we find the mountain lion.

The place is cold!!! We were lucky as we took a dry balmy day.
The wind meanwhile was terribly cold and strong.
