Dyckia fosteriana - A dish like pottery bowl full of them

Dyckia fosteriana
Dyckia fosteriana is one of the most attractive of all Dyckias.
Native to Southern Brazil it tolerates some coldness.
Here I say tolerates and must  never be taken as relishes.
It stands some cold but never apreciates it.
Dyckia fosteriana is a tropical plant!
Do not keep it under ice.,Try not to keep survivors but happy safe secure fosterianas.
Try not to rely that much on zones and area classifications and things like that. If you do keep mango trees, fruiting banana plants and papayas in you yard you can sleep well as your Dyckias are probably safe too.
Look around, if you do not see mangoes  hanging from any tree or big banana bunches all around...take care, ice may be present after a windless stary clear night. Look for anthuriuns, Philodendruns, Heliconias in your neighbour garden. Croton! These are great indicators. If the crotos are not to be seen anywhere in the garden around you...hummmm.
Plants usually do not go on walking around searching for a shelter or a safety place to spend the frozen night. While you sleep soundly under warm blankets Dyckia dies under the blankets of the froze. Keeping Polar bears in Copacabana is an art just a few masterize with perfection besides being an exaustive job the same way it would be exaustive to maintain manatees downtown Montreal in Janyary.
