Dyckia fosteriana
This is one single  crown divided plant.
These perfectly separated crown will also divide in two, three or even four crowns each.
In future you may have many distint plants.
In nature one may think these are all separated plants
but in fact are all the very same plant.
This knowing is crucial when we are dealing with a non self fertile plant.
When  collecting a plant it should better be at least three individuals to garantee the true seeds possibility. Sometimes one intire population is made by just one devided individual. So one single population is not any garantee of surviving for a plant in nature.
So one very same plant may have many heads or crowns and be well separated and far apart from each oder leading one to believe they are different individual plants.
Dyckias never cease to amaze me and every day I come to know I knaow just a bit of the amount I should know. Dyckias challenge anyone and are the perfect plants for a lifetime study.
