Dyckia encholirioides a sea salt lover a sailor on the rocks

Dyckia encholirioides
It is an ocean salt spray lover. It lives where it can see the sea and the endless come and going of the waves. It is always perched on rocks close to the South Atlantic Ocean and yes it takes its salty water sprays. It survives the torrid Summer Suns and strong deep cold winds during the long winters nights.
Dyckia encholirioides is a brave no doubt and it flowers in a frenzy of yellow/gold blooms and makes the rocky Springs a place for bees and hopes. The day the Sun makes the most beautiful spring day when the blues of the sea are melt with those of the skies is the day they bloom.
One who sees it and the sea and wonder how can it bloom, how can it be happy enough to bring flowers, yellow ones, to our eyes and souls.
Till recently we all imagined Dyckia encholirioides had one look only and seeing one of them one had seen all of them. No way! We found one variety bearing three folds more spines than the type form. A friend, Vilson found a white group of them and some as yellow as an egg yolk.
Here I show once more a very old one in my garden and a seedling growing on a trunk of them.
Life is a miracle we shall one day better understand to better respect it.
We are part of this miracle and it is an only one. When a tree dies we all get smaller, when a monkey dies the best in us dies too for we are tied all together. Earth, our home is so small spinning on the vastness of the space.... life is the most splendored thing and it is the most convincing proof of God's existence. Understand nature is understand us... and we´ve only just begun doing it.
