Dyckia encholirioides

Today I made or performed the annual cleaning. The cutting of the old dead leaves and fertilization.
We are under extraordinary dry weather so many leaves were consumed.
These leaves are cut and not removed for the axils must be left attached to the trunk
as in nature. I use turkey manure as a fertilizer agent. Turkey droppings are usually sold in local garden centers here. Santa Catarina is a major turkey breeder in the world and Turkey farms are huge.
The droppings are seed free and very effective

A seedling growing on the trunk.

This is a multi-head plant. It is under cultivation for decades.
Dyckia encholirioides can make truly beautiful hybrids.
I will show you some here.
