Some Dyckia flowers do not open wide its petals when the blooming plant is under a long
rainy period. Even tough in regular times the plant open fully its flowers, under rain it tries to protect reproductive organs as a wet pollen is useless or less effective.
Also as you may see the flowers are attached to the flower stem downwardly. This also prevents the flower to get soaked wet. After being pollinated the flowers hangs upwards.
This flower movement is peculiar to all Dyckias.
