Besides beautiful they are impressive as they are not small.
Some Dyckias delicatas get to 70 centimeters in crown diameter.
As it is a Dyckia species extremely poorly publicized people can not even
have an idea of its true size.
Some of our most prizing plants were never shown before in any usual
publications.
This adds to the ignorance and lack of knowledge and may lead to disasters.
This seems to be the kind of hiding that just contributes
to the very sorry attitudes as that of those farmers who dumped Dyckias into a lake in order to exterminate the plants for they represented a thread for the kids and the animals.
A group of a very astonishing beautiful Dyckia hebdingii affinis is vanished from the wilderness.
It is very improbable that another population may still be resisting.
We argued with the farmer that nothing would grow on the rocks and the plants represented a lesser danger than the rocks themselves to any child. We said that is the right place for that plant and not for the children. We said that was the only place all over the world the plant opted as home and there were no more of them in all the planet. After the small lecture farmer seemed to be just a bit regretted but it was too late.
We will try to get true seeds from two plants left and get them back ´cause the farmer said: if I only know...
But of course this is a too migger genetical material to guarantee any surviving...
