Most of the Cerrado Dyckias present graceless flowers.
Usually their petals do not even open.
This is a way the plant found to protect the flower female parts
from the specially dry atmosphere of the Cerrado. Some times it can get as low as 16 %.
In Joinville where I live the air humidity percentage is ever around 90%.
In the desert it may be as low as 30% and people begins to suffer from 50% and lower.
If the petals opened the ovarian would dry in minutes and the species would be extinguished.
