Unnamed Dyckia species from North Rio Grande do Sul.

We have many more Dyckias to find and name than those
Dyckia species already known and described.
Dyckias and this ones to be named represent something irresistible
in order to honor every one in a bushman´s family, friends and of course
the bushman himself and soon his pets. It will not surprise me at all to find out a
Dyckia named honoring a pathfinder bushman dog or his beloved macaw.
We should all leave the loved ones names to the hybrid plants, the true species
should get true Latin names and not Latinized ones.
A Latin name always tells about the plant:
Stenophylla = narrow leaved
platyphylla = broad leaved
tenuifolia = thin leaved
This way you know a plant characteristic even before setting eyes on it.
Latin is or should be well known by any scholar as all actual languages are fulfilled by words derived from Latin as an heritage from the ancient Roman and the Central Italy people.
As we see here Taxonomy besides being idle has a very bad taste.
This help us to remind Taxonomy is a Human play and not a God´s job.
Being so it is well under the possibilities of errors, mistakes and other human vicissitudes.
The gender name Dyckia is something that shows the lack of knowledge and respect for the local people . Native people in all every country where Dyckias are native to always knew these fantastic plants as caraguata or gravata meaning like the pine apple or pine apple alike plant.
Caraguata brevifolia would honor millions instead of a only one, a total strange to us.
In fact it has not been long ago all and every plant ought go to Europe to get named officially.
This is the main reason for these names we barely can spell and say absolutely nothing to us.
Taxonomy should come back once more, change its mind once more. Dyckia...we do not deserve this. Europe historically in Latin America more preyed than helped our fauna and flora.
Time to change that has long long ago came.
There is an entire cactus gender native to central Brazil named to honor a German bushman
that came to Brazil to "study" our native cacti. This guy openly bad spoke about us in his reports blamed us for the preying he himself did on our cacti. He could not speak a decent and understandable Portuguese word, let aside knowing the country. By the contrary we speak very good German. He had been South and we do speak German here in South
Brazil as most of our settlers is German decedent. Today we have the biggest Octoberfest outside Germany. Our food are all German and most of our traditions as music, wearings, food are Teutonic.
The guy felt at home here in the South. He also had been to Minas Gerais a bit North from here.
Getting back to Europe his reports were disgusting to us and every honored people.
Upon this taxonomy gave him the honor of an entire Brazilian endemic cacti to be put under his name! We do not deserve that! Kindness does not deserve that, politeness, education, science and even taxonomy itself should not deserve that.
