Cold damaged Dyckia reitzii

The place where these beauties feel fine and call it home is one of the coldest spots in Brazil and temperatures can drop to -20 Centigrade. Normally this does not last longer than a nightstand each time and it vanishes with the morning sun but when it does last longer than this the more exposed individuals really suffer.

..but the ice cold times seem to be just a bothering thing and nothing capable of really killing the plants.
They are alive and blooming...

Now you know the reason it is a rare one in wilderness:
Real cold nights can kill them as they are more susceptible to extreme cold than the green ones.
