Far away from being one single plant Dyckia marnier-lapostollei is a Dyckia Complex with many regional components. In nature Dyckia marnier-lapostollei is scattered through a vast area of our Central Region. The populations are so small sometimes just half a dozen individuals. There seems not to be any numerous population of Dyckia marnier-lapostollei anywhere in Nature.
Adding to this most of the plants seem not to be self fertile and many of these small populations are just geneticaly the very same plant separated by crown divisions.
We know of a very few Dyckia Complex in Brazil:
Dyckia hebdingii Complex,
Dyckia marnier-lapostollei Complex and
Dyckia fosteriana Complex.
Young Dyckia marnier-lapostollei var. estevesii plants.
They have this fly catcher looks.
