Dyckia joanae-marcioi

Dyckia joanae-marcioi
Look straight here and you will notice the begining of a flower stalk.
This is a rare plant in nature, culturing and even on pictures.

I just sorry we insist on giving people´s name to Species. No matter the intentions  it is always wiser to favor Latim names. Latim names tells us about the plants for instance Dyckia Platyphylla that leterally means broad leafed Dyckia. Not perfect but closer!
It should be much wiser to leave people´s name to streets, builduings, airports, bridges even cities but all man made things or structures or even wiser give people´s name to the hybrids.
I guess the old concept of eternizing people´s names through botanics is well too out of question in an updated view.
I do think when we want to express thankfulness, admiration or even when we want to be forgiven we send flowers, chocolate...we hug and kiss, we stay on our knees, we promisse not to repeat the same error or we beg for pardon...Today we send a CD with the prefered tunes or a DVD with the most recent movie, a good book ( Have you ever read The Little Prince? It is ever updated and fits all ages.). Please don´t go on oferring Leon Tostoy nor Dante Alighieri to kids unles the volumes are old valuable first editions.
So this is one more  vanity fair sample we plant lovers have to cope with.
It seems to be a fad lately...but it is so out of fashion...
The plant is beautiful indeed.
