Dyckia species from Pedreira - Gravataí - Rio Grande do Sul

These round  balls are about to bloom by the first time here in my garden.
Its flowers are yellow, tiny and its seeds the minute possible for a Dyckia.

This shape is one of the best good looking on Dyckias and it is common among Southern Dyckias.

This species is a rupiculous one and there are three more  Dyckia species in the area. Appearently they do not hybridize for they have distint blooming seasons.
The habitat has being destroyed sucessfully by the use of the granitic rocks where they live on as gravel for the constructions in Porto Alegre.
