Dyckia marnier-lapostollei var. estevesii
This is one of the many local varieties as Dyckia marner-lapostollei has a vast territory in Central Brazil.
I has been found in several Brazilian States including our Federal District of Brasília.
Lately there have being reports for this fantastic species even in Mato Grosso.
Some varieties as this one here requires an skilled specialist to be told apart as all these plants tend to show differences when under cultivation.
Some  varieties do not open their flowers and just spill their masculine parts out from a tiny hole on top of the flowers. This is common to the plants native to very arid regions.
Lately a very distintive variety was found. It is a huge Dyckia marnier-lapostollei some taxonomists are willing to classify it as a new species..
Natural and cultivated hybrids between these varieties are known to exist and transform Dyckia marnier-lapostollei into another Dyckia Complex rather than just a unique species.
All members seem to be self unfertile and this fact contributes to a great deal of different looking individuals.
Intriguing and beautiful these will continue to be one of the most desired xeric plants of all.
