Dyckia hebdingii affinis
..here by the twilight of one historical hot day
Today temperatures hit 45 degrees Centigrades. Allied to an almost 100% air umidity
the feeling was just about 50 degrees Centigrades.
Dyckias just loved and will be fed and watered as soon as the Sun gets down behind the West mountains.
There is no sense in allowing the plants dry. Some Dyckias from  our Central area passes through a very hard seasonal drough each year but they do not relish it. They learned how to cope with the dryness but this causes them a terrible suffering and many really dye.
After a day like today they welcome a fresh cool fertilizand enriched water.
We can almost sense their relief the moment wather is sprinckled on them.
The first part to die in a suffering Dyckia is the roots capable of absorbing nutrients. If this happens plants begins to wrinkle their leaves and lifting them up together in order to preserve the growing area.
Lifted leaves face the Sun with their reflective scales underleaves and the temperature inside the plant may be  lower than the boinling outside.
All this causes a tremendous stress and waste of energy on our plants.
We do not need to keep survivors!
We have to keep happy looking plants only!
