These seedlings are my pride. They descend from a very raDyckia marnier-lapostollei variety native to Soutwest Bahia, a region today used for gigantic soybean crops.
Notice how wide are those leaves.
This plant loves warmth and the most schorching sun.
The silver scales are easely removed with hosing and heavy rain.
Bald leaves are deep green.
Red bald leaves reveals an ultra rare and beautiful rubra form.
This rubra Bahia variety I do not have. It is rare and endangered by soy crops.
Many Brazilian xeric lovers would like to have one.
Both forms are self unfertile.
I do belive Dyckia platyphylla is the result of a hybrizing Dyckia marnier-lapostollei Bahia and a Dyckia brevifolia being a hybrid rather than a spieces.
Playphylla was never found in nature by anybody else than his discoverer.
