Dyckia encholirioides spinosissima
This is a smaller and more compact plant than the encholirioides type.
Also it bears many more spines hence its variety name.
Dyckia encholirioides spinosíssima is always close to the Atlantic Ocean.
This variety is a sandy dweller exclusively and it is not found on rocks as the type form.
It is always growing amid these ferns.
One plant helps the other to cope with the scorching Sun and the constant sea wind.
In Winter time the South cold wind may be very strong.
