Dyckia eruca
This is a Dyckia species now under description.
They are now just four individuals left and no one was found anymore.
This species bears the most exuberant Dyckia florers of all Dyckia species I have
known up to now. Twenty to thirty orange to red big flowers attached to a single unbranched stalk. Its big petals open full and wide and are pleasentely scented.
Eruca is Latin for burning like fire.
This plant was found amid the leftovers of a campfire.
The fire was made intentionally on a clump of Dyckias on a huge outcrop.
Noeli, a friend of mine and plant lover herself insisted on bringing some all burned
small Dyckia trunks. These trunks sprouted literally from ashes.
Contrary to others Dyckias specie this plant turns into a fiercy fire red color in winter
when it blooms.
