Northeastern Santa Catarina Dyckia Complex

Northeastern Santa Catarina Dyckia Complex comprises several described Dyckia species and also several non described ones as well some natural hybrids. The region is a vast one and enters South eastern Paraná State. It is a high plato where snow is not an unknown presence, frequent frozes and temperatures down to 12 below zero Centigrade was registered. All this cold to no stay long and is just a matter of few hours. The Quiririm Plato is yet to be studied completely. There comes the water we use here in Joinville. This complex and all plants in a reach of a wandering bee comprehends the following known species:
- Dyckia tuberosa - Dyckia monticola - Dyckia pseudococcinea - Dyckia Duseni - Dyckia reitzii ( according to Reitz himself) - Dyckia minarum ( also according to Reitz).
Paraná state closeness may include some more species in a continuous array of wonders. This mighty mountain block goes West, North and South within regions with a very sparse population of humans and also places accessed only by chopper. Here we have some notable presences as The mountain lion and our jaguar may be spotted once in a while.
There are many more new species in there and also many wonderful natural hybrids. This is the most important Brazilian Dyckia Complex and there exists only three in The world. One in Minas Gerais and another in Rio Grande so Sul the Gaucho Dyckia Triangle from which comes Dickia hebdingii and its numerous relative or affinis treated as separated species. We have many novelties that might come from these complexes.
