This Dyckia species was found  in Porto Alegre-RS area way down south in Brazil.
The local was a leprosarium and the flora around is untouched.
This plant  maybe shows the largest and biggest spines in Dyckias. 
Adult individuals may show  bigger than 6 cm long spines! 

 

Notice the purple/blueist center of this plant.
This is found only among some Southern Dyckia species.
 A plant for the landscaper mind.
I imagine a xeric garden with these Southern Brazilian jewels.
As Dyckias they never die by blooming and live, live and live on and on....close enough to touch eternity.
Its bloom is made of uncountable tiny yellow flowers, another southern Dyckia characteristic.
