The terrain where Dyckia grows.....

Volcanic rocks , mosses....this luxuriant moss carpet enables  Dyckia germination as it keeps the correct umidity and nourishment to the seedlings...

A Dusenii related Dyckia species clump and the rock..notice how intricaded the lava was..
it just froze... See the lichens..all makes part of the Dyckia settling on bare rocks.
The grass that surrounds the Dyckia and served as protection to it during the Summer  blasting sun is now dying after the very first frosts, this allows the sun bathing during the short days of the winter.

The American pine is an invasor here.
They are not native nor were them planted.
Seeds were caried from the plantations around. A plague.

Araucaria angustifolia our native Brazilian pine tree.

Lichens and mosses and algae..the first settlers. They prepair terrain for Dyckias ....

The orchid (bulbophyllum?) grows amid Dyckias ....
