Dyckia companion

No matter how much we adore the water holding bromeliads.....
No matter how many times people try to convince us all that Dengue mosquitoes won´t develop in them...
The very very true is : THEY WILL!
DENGUE AEDES EGYPTI MOSQUITO DOES DEPOSIT EGGS AND THE LARVAE AND THE PUPES AND THE MOSQUITOES  DO DEVELOPE IN THERE!!!!!!
If you live in an area where the dengue mosquito exists be absolutely doubtless: they will lay eggs on the water of the tank of the  bromeliads. They will do so specieally if the other water holes are not disposable to them.
Dengue kills!
DENGUE DOES KILLS!
Dengue must be faced also as an enemy of the first  world countries and a biologic and final solution must be found.
Caffeine dissolved in the bromeliad helps to discontinue the larvae development but helping is not enough as Dengue kills.
I would ratter have a Southern Pacific Californian rattle snake in my room than a dengue mosquito flying in it.
Here in Brazil there is no use to remove bromeliads from our gardens as they are literally everywhere from roofs to trees, walls, wires, rocks and whatever you might imagine. If you stand still here most probably an orchid and a bromeliad will sprout from your ears.
A biologic solution must be found. A mosquito that generates unfertile females or sterile males would do good, very good indeed.
Here dengue is not present only in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul and areas where the winter is cold enough to produce frosts.
Up to now the two most effective mosquito controllers are the weather and education.
In some areas these are not enough.
Dengue Kills!
