Dyckia pottiorum, an image says many words....


Dyckia pottiorum is a decubent (Leaves are lying down in spite of being distic.) plant but its leaves never touch the rock otherwise they would burn.
Instead they go backward in order to protect the trunk .
Notice the old dried leaves also have a role to play.
Nature tell us all. One just needs eyes to see and brains to think.
