Dyckia choristaminea Morro do Carvão - RS

The narrow leaves are the way nature found  to cope with the strong constant winds that come from south Atlantic Ocean nearby. The leaves are very narrow but not thin. In fat the leaves are extra hard and thick.
Choristaminea presents many variations according to its spot in nature and the  characteristics of its local.
This one her bear narrow leaves and  grows on the crevices of the rock where organic debris congregate brought by rain and wind. During summer days a tall thin leaves grass grows and helps to protect and hide the plant as it gets even less conspicuous and delicious to the animals...

This is the regional variation that presents the narrowest leaves.
It grows on the Morro do Carvão (Coal Hill) close to Porto Alegre.
