Dyckia pectinata
Native to Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro state border.
This is a rock dweller beauty and a very good one ´cause
its spines are soft rubbery. They do any harm to one´s skin.
What spines are for? Protection against wild animals?
Maybe, but they do not prevent these animals from eating them to the ground.
During dry times the wild animals relish savoring this beauties foliage and
even the hard spined ones.
Spines are used to dissipate heat!
Dyckias have way to deal with their lover the scorching sun spines is one way.
