Dyckia fosteriana

What is wrong here? What a drab creature!
Do not panic! This is natural.
Just the trichomas or silver scales are gone. Why?
They were washed away by water. This may happen by heavy rain or heavy hosing.
We see the plant is a rubra one and we only see this when in this case of poor situation.
Also if this happens in midsummer the plant will sun burn.
So if you have a true fosteriana and want it to more than just beautiful do not let it under heavy water.
Dyckia fosteriana is a white plant when well and properly cared.
