No doubt about it. Dyckias are not at easy under rain.
They pale, specially the silvered ones. These ones literally faint.
Cloudy rainy weather makes them quiet and some gets inconspicuous.
This one here is an exception, even under rain it continues to appeal and catch my eyes.
Do not get me wrong here, Dyckias love and need water. They hate totally dried substrate.
In fact they almost die. The tips of the leaves dry out, the plant looses its roots, wrinkles and do
a immense effort in order not to perish.
Some of the Cerrado plants endure months without rain but this is not the same as without water. They do need water, but it must just pass by.
The water need of a Dyckia as well as its relationship with water needs to be studied with care.
