A nature joke or something to think about....

Dyckia hebdingii affinis from Arroio dos Ratos - Rio Grande do Sul,
above and below.



These two Dyckia species are separated in nature for
more than 3.000 kilometers of a straight line.
It takes an expert to tell these two plants apart.
Meanwhile they are different species for their flowers stalk and flowers
are totally different and reveal two separated and in this case well separated species.

Now imagine a cross between the two...who would tell them apart?
The Arroio dos Ratos one loves the cold and the Bahia one adores the warm climate.
Here one must reflect on Dyckias in General to try to understand their history
and how they got spread in nature.
Hummm...what a history!
