Some visitors are lousy polinators

This nectar feeder is an outlaw in a Dyckia garden.
The bird feed on the masculine parts of Dyckias flower giving no chance for the
pollen mature and be apt to fertilize.
These native bees do so too. They assault the flowers before it opens and remove all the male parts leaving the ovary intact to mature and receive pollen from any other plant.
An attemptive gardener may take advantages from this. The emasculated flowers are perfect
to be fertilized by any other selected plant. These insects may be a helping hand or a terror.
Some times they destroy any possibility of self fertilization of a rare most desired species.
