Dyckia eruca
Species saved from a campfire. Eruca is Latin for burning.
It is almost certain there are just four plants in the whole world.
The pictures are of a low quality. The photographer is a lousy one but the plant....
Look, I will take other shots and I will try hard to better the quality.
Ah, the camera is an ordinary one. But this is all I have.
Look the flowers they are not opened yet. Try to feel the sued like texture, just like buck leather.
If I had any doubt about being a totally new species it vanished today.
Why not describe?
No, I will! But this is too soon. We must observe. Unhappily just in culture. Even tough we are going to visit the native spot and the adjacent area. Maybe there is another group out there.
To describe we need to destroy one plant and to dry one to be put into an Herbarium drawer to feed termites and cause many argumentation years ahead when just a tiny piece of something will be all that rest side by side to a pile of termites feces. I won´t do that with a plant so rare.
