Seeds were collected in Dr. Jones´ garden, Lami in Porto Alegre.
The two plants were side by side and both had full ripe and already opened
seed pods. Professor Dr. Jones Caldas da Silva (Dyckia jonesiana) kindly said yes when I asked for
some seeds. This was some four years ago and also the very first time I heard about Lagoão.
Here we can clearly notice the delicata and the Lagoão hints of beauty.
Later on I found Lagoão in nature and today the first seeds are here forming on a Lagoão native to plant as
I brought one small plant and some seeds. Those seeds gave birth to may beauties too and revealed
Lagoão to be a kaleidoscopic colored Dyckia and maybe a natural delicata hybrid as delicata home is very close by. Any way the plant her has true color year around and was made in Professor Dr. Jones Caldas da Silva garden in Porto Alegre. Dr. Jones is our best Bromeliad connoisseur today. He was in the field collecting bromeliads with our famous Catholic father Raulino Reitz and studies bromeliads for decades.
