Dyckia ibiramensis

Dyckia ibiramensis
Another Santa Catarina species.
Ibirama is one of the most beautiful Brazilian little town.
Everybody in there speaks German fluently;
The Second World War made weird victims here: The small town was Neue Breslau (New Breslau). It was colonized by settlers from Breslau Germany so they call it Neue Breslau.
Brazilian authorities decided to change it to a very indigenous name, Ibirama. The new name
is pleasant to our ears but still an atrocity, an imposition from the fourties.
Santa Catarina was mostly colonized by German settlers.
They did not came here empty handed. Teachers, preachers, medical doctor, engineers, bridge constructors, botanists, zoologists, carpenters, geographers, farmers and many others they came to live new lives in a very strange country.
They brought their dancers too, their clothes, their food, their education.
Ibirama is a gigantic garden for German love flowers.
Their houses and their gardens are neat, clean and absolutely full of flowers.
They adored the native orchids and still do.
Santa Catarina people are mostly blue eyed blond people.
Of course we had the Italians as myself, the polish, African, Austrian and Swiss ones.
By the shore line we have the Açorian settlers.
Santa Catina has the biggest Octoberfest outside München.
Ibirama is a most blond and blue eyed Beuatiful German town here in Brazil
and we are very proud of our immigrants.
They all enjoy Samba, caipirinha and feijoada even whem wearing Leterhosen.
Prosit aus Brazilien!
