Dyckia discoides a new, brand new species from Santa Catarina

Undescribed, unseen, unknown
Dyckia discoides (A name I prefer and hope it will be the chosen one.)
It is a mountain dweller from West in Santa Catarina.
The plant forms thick trunks up to 60 cm high and topped by
one , two or three discs of foliage resembling to dishes oposing to each other.
It is a brand new behavior in Dyckias.

The plant is  a block buster indeed and a relative and affinis of Dyckia magnifica.
I would like to name it Dyckia discoides or Dyckia mirabilis if I had the chance to do it.

Revisiting Dyckia Star of Brazil, a fosteriana-fosteriana song

Dyckia fosteriana-fosteriana Star of Brazil

This is not perfection but under the eyes of mine it is quite close to...
This is one of the best looking plants I saw and guess what?
It was made all by myself.
I am too suspicious to state that but my eyes can´t deny it ...

A gringo in my garden and a lesson for life......

...he kept on saying I am about fainting, drop dead, never even in my dream I imagined this...
I wished my friends were here with us...
This was said in a most  impeccable Portuguese!
The day was a cloudy one and there was some drizzle but even so
we managed to accomplish our goals.
He is a Brazil fan and a deep scholar in Brazilian issues. This brave Californian
is a walking lesson on kindness, knowledge and wisdom.
His mouth dropped around my garden and mine while listening and watching him
around it.
His visit lasted a bit more than 24 hours and I can say I am now a bit better a man than before.
His visit was a honoring blessing.
Nels, may God bless you and all those  you come close and please, consider
this your garden in Brazil.
A smooth flight back to Santa Monica and may your many
granddaughter´s toys  safely reach the Land of Milk and Honey.
Thanks Nels, I am pleased!
Steve, there is  a piece in  our garden full of your gifts to me.
Paul, your part in here is as much large.
I am a kid just now. I can not count the many times
I go out just to look a the the new Californian  preciosities you once more
were able to make find their way to me.
Thanks. I am a 8 years old boy.
Nels promised me to be back soon and this time  bring Steve and Paul...
...ahh they won´t believe their eyes he said.

Dyckia sp argentea affinis
X
Dyckia marnier-lapostollei
These two are about to begin their torrid passion.
This is a couple never once even imagined .
What looks will result?
Two species, two rare and hardly if ever seen before. Two super white plants.
Dreaming is the best one can do.
I will show here both stem and their flowers.

As all true Dyckia marnier-lapostollei Dyckia marnier-lapostollei Bahia form
bears ample wide leaves but here they do not twist a bit.
The leaves are straight and hard and the spines are many and small.
One of the rarest and prettiest Dyckia marnier-lapostollei forms.

Dyckia delicata...it is worth to see it again.

Dyckia delicata rubra
and
Dyckia delicata
Both collected and true species and one of the rarest and most wished  Brazilian plants.

Dykia Brittle Star Bill Baker legitime and only one...

Dyckia Brittle Star.
No other hybrid Dyckia is half this famous nor as close wished. The WWW shows dozens of different looks but this is the only true and legitimate Dyckia Brittle Star. There is just  a very very very few of these around the world and all originated in California. Any other look is just claimers. Also no other hybrid plant produced so many good looking and desired  self made seedlings.
This particular plant is a very old one and bears a respectable trunk maybe the grand, grand grandmother of all. Thanks, Steve!

Ladies and gentlemen, a star is made: Dyckia Liz Taylor!!!!!!

Dyckia magnifica
A treasure from a Santa Catarina west side mountain.

Hardly any other  Dyckia rivals to this.
New! Brand new! Rare and stunning Dyckia magnifica!

Here below you see its flower stems  full of almost ripe  seed pods.

These seed pods still attached to the Dyckia magnifica flower stems carry
more than Dyckia manica...They carry another genetic information that comes from another  magnificent plant  Dyckia delicata.
These seeds will give rise to  a new and totally unknown hybrid I name now as
Dyckia  Liz Taylor!!!
This beautiful lady just passed away in LA - California
She  among many, many other things always knwew  the meaning of  the word FRIEND!
She was always there when har friends were lost, were weak, desperated, ill up to die.
She was there! There by their sides. She was there saying I love you when no one dared
to be there. She was there when then were alone in deep suffering knowing they were dying.
Elizabeth Taylor was more much more than a pretty woman..she was the friend
everyone wants to have.

Below we see Dyckia delicata rubra which pollen fathered the seed within those seed pods.
Two most magnificent Southern Plants got together to give rise to anew star:
Dyckia Liz Taylor.

Dyckia fosteriana var. Marialva

Dyckia fosteriana is a Southern species native to Paraná. Recently we got to know some fantastic regional varieties turning Dyckia fosteriana in Dyckia  fosteriana Complex.

Dyckia distachya Hassler aurea the perfect crown.

Dyckia distachya Hassler aurea

Could it be a bit more perfect?
This is a rare reophytic plant from Santa Catarina West.
The only Dyckia species totally removed form wilderness original  local and relocated.
Itá  hydroelectric dam construction in the Uruguai River that separates Santa Catarina from Rio Grande do Sul
was the reason for that.

Dyckia delicata red from Perau do Tomba Bodes - RS

Dyckia delicata

One of the prettiest Dyckias of all.

Dyckia Raquel
She says this is one many splendored thing

" Love is the many splendored thing, it is the April rose that only grows at the early Spring...

Raquel is my best reason to be living.

Dyckia distachya Hassler aurea spilling from the tray.

It spills and drops.....magically  enchanting any heart.

Dyckia BigBrazil #2

Dyckia hb BigBrazil #2
From David Boudreaux is the whitest big ones and one of the finest looks.
Let us dance down the Bayou and grab a fishpie and jambalaya!

What a visit!!!

The American President and his wife wave Good bye in Rio de Janeiro after a three days visit to Brazil.
The photo is Reuters and what a picture!!!!
Look at the tropical festive First American Lady´s dress.
A joyful moment to be forever remembered here.
Many important and vital agreements were signed on education, food, green and renewable energy, science, trading, oil.
We were taken as partners to look after mankind welfare.
May we all drop food, science, education and hopes on every nation in the world.
The Obama family and in the highest regard by Brazilian people. The American  First Lady made success here. She was just perfect and adorable.
She is taken as the best ever representative of America and for sure she was the high lights
when and wherever she was here.
We may all walk hand in hand in the search of Light.
We all can! We must!
God bless you.
Thanks!

Here is Her Majesty: The imperial Blue Dyckia marnier-lapostollei

Dyckia marner-lapostollei var. azul imperial
The Imperial blue form
Collected! Native to the Central Brazilian state of Goiás.
This is the most admired, sought after, dazzling stunning gorgeous
Brazilian preciosity from the rocks.
Just two souls know its habitat and it won´t be revealed even
under severe medium aged catholic church torture.
You may offer them to Libya government to take them as live shelter for those  beasts,
they won´t tell.
You may offer money, pearls, grandeur, they will remain silent.
You may say you love them too they won´t even move a lip.
Promise them paradise and it will be useless.
Say they are more handsome than Brad Pitt and me and with no avail they won´t react.
Tie them tight and use a tail turkey feather on their feet soles, they will never say a word.
Dance the hula dressed in your best sarong and it will be useless.
..but now look at that baby..it is about to go up North, up there where the rivers flow
in milk and honey huge streams....
(California, Arkansas and Louisiana friends: What do you think?)
