Dyckia macedoi

These leaf marks are peculiar to macedoi.

A fine 360° orfull complete variegation

Full variegated  Dyckias are rare amid the rare notably the colored ones.
Most variegations are half-moon ones and not a complete 360°.  Also, most variegated plants are white and green or ivory and green. Full multicolored variegations are strikingly beautiful.
This is a seedling I was lucky enough to get myself.

Another point is, will its seeds be full variegated too?
Dyckias try to set flower stalks on the point the variegation is not well set and this is the main
reason seeds produced by variegated plants are not variegated. We shall see it for sure.
This is a Dyckia monticola.

Dyckia hebdingii considerations

We can say Dyckia hebdingii are variable, evolved, hybridized... see this all here are hebdingii
from its natural area. You can see a rubra one, a green one, a white one....

I favor hybrids, always.

 Dyckia brevifolia X Dyckia delicata

Dyckias are great, great in all details and aspects. I favor hybrid plants. in fact, many of the plants described as true species are in fact natural hybrids. The parent plants are long gone and not to see around anymore but the hybrids are there. Dyckias have a clear role in nature. Dyckia mare pioneers. they bring life to the rocks, they bring the trees to them and once the trees are established dyckias are vanished, long dead in shadows
Hybrid Dyckias are almost always more beautiful and more adaptable as they carry richer genetics. Hybrids preserve nature and natural plants in nature.

Yes, a too young seedling to tell more but it does show seasonal yellow colors, rubber-like super white teeth and charming shape.

Dyckia hebdingii var. Senhor Nenê

I am repeatedly showing Dyckia hebdingii and its varieties. This is worth seeing once more. Senhor  (mister in Portuguese) Nenê is the landowner, the farmer whose land has many Dyckia hebdingii spots. This group of plants is kept in a very same shallow ceramic basin. They share the very same pot.

A young plant a seedling, still on improving.

It is a full varieged plant. Full variegated Dyckias are the rarest amid the rare ones.

A mark to celebrate

A wonderful colored scarlet Orthophytum

Dyckia apiunensis a recent descriptio by Dr.Pierre Braun

Apiúna is a small town close to the Itajaí-açu River in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Apiúna is a word from Tupy a native indigenous people and it means painted in black.
This plant was found on Morro Dom Bosco ( Dom Bosco Hill, in fact, a huge granite monolith.) downtown the small town

Dyckia apiunensis was described by Dr. Pierre Braun and me as assistant and co-author.
A giant honor to me.

From the very same area, The Itajaí-açu River Valley, we have:
Dyckia ibiramensis, Dyckia vilsonii, Dyckia gastaldiana, Dyckia brevifolia.
