Dyckia marnier-lapostollei variety estevesii
In fact there must be a big array of regional varieties of this most beautiful Dyckia.
Its range is a wide one and comprises several central states in Brazil.
Its populations are always small and just a few individuals are found here and there and
some of these varieties must be already extinguished.
The plant was recently found in our Federal District of Brasília.
This Dyckia Complex is not well studied and understood and a most all-embracing work must be done. Until that most of the considerations on Dyckia marnier-lapostollei are guessings.
Many new species related to Dyckia marnier-lapostollei has been identified these recent years
also more than a dozen new varieties has been clearly pointed out.
Once in culturing all these varieties and species inbreed eagerly and promptly and identificating plants under culture is a risk and a challenge that must never be accepted by any smart guy.
We are about to come to a point where the only wise, prudent and safe thing to say about them all is : beautiful!
It is yet virtually impossible to determine for instance which plant belongs to the variety estevessii.
It requires an expert (two would generate controversal findings) and most probably the dismantling of the plant. This is the same as to say only a dead one is securely identified but yet some arguing would take place.
All in all what really counts is in fact the plant is a Gorgeous one and for sure this is the best we can say!
