Dyckia strehliana, a reophytic one from way down South in Brazil.

Are you able to guess what is this?

This seedling is not a Dyckia estevesii not a Dyckia mirandiana and nota Dyckia pottiorum either.
Can you guess what is this?

I am sure you would never guess.
This is a Dyckia encholirioides found in beach resort dune in BalneƔrio Barra do Sul in Santa Catarina, Brazil some 52 km away from Joinville, where i live.
It is a distic form of Dyckia encholirioides, an ultra rare one. Still a young seedling and is distic since it emerged from the seed.

Dyckia sp from Aquidauana - Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

Have you ever saw this one?
There are more, much more to be seen by the first time in on our Brazilian rocks.
Most are undescribed.
Look this flowers here.
Notice how the flower stalk emerges from the plant. Dyckia!

Dyckia!
Do you think you know all Dyckia species?
No! those who know the most know less than half of the species  our wilderness  keeps unseen....

Yes, wilderness collected.

Dyckia BS X Arizona

A white Dyckia reitzii

Dyckia reitzii white

Not long ago we just believed the green ones existed. when some barely rubra appeared we took time to believe too. Well, the truth is most biologists took (or any other who would serve to them) took just the most handy one, those on the side walk.. and talk about side, Dyckias were most of the time a side effect finding from cacti or orchid searchers.
Dyckias are now being taken a bit more seriousy and more have being seen.
This plant here was a seedling when I found it in Aparados da Serra right in between Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul Brazilian States.
Reitzii can be almost black, red wine, almost white, green, bronze, pinkish ....
and all found in wilderness!

Cleistocactus colademononis , monkey tail cactus

I like these cacti. They hang down from a basket in beautiful white fat monkey tails.
Its long spines won´t harm you while white. Once they get old and gold colored they hurt you seriously.
But nothing hurts more than seeing all your monkey tail broken on the ground.
Yes, disasters happens!
They are so brittle! they break in many pieces and parts....all capable of sprouting.

Dyckia reitzii rubra

Dyckia Brittle Star X Dyckia dawsonii all the way from Berlin

The Brandenburg Gate and its Golden Chariot wind blessed these seeds.
Seeds produced in Berlin. Their parents spent more than just Winter looking at the snow falling outside.
Berlin has deep cold winter. Just those who love the beauty can cultivate Dyckias there.
I am a better man for I have friends our eyes never met, our hands never shake.....

Dyckia octopus...just like a devilfish.
