Dyckias...These creatures of the Light are mostly Brazilian. Many of them are still to be seen by the very first time. Come on in. Let us see some. This Blog was created to show you the plants in my garden and also help you to keep happier Dyckias. This is the beginning of the book:THE ALLURING DYCKIAS. I may share some seeds with you. This way we help Dyckias to be known, understood and cherished.

Dyckia alba....almost there.
...this is what means: big and plentyful.
How many tiny yellow flowers we are bound to have here?
But I am still wondering what the scientists saw here
Alba has a few meanings other than the Latin word for the color "white". Alba is a male gender Spanish place name. Alba is a female gender Hispanic term for "aurora, fair-skinned". Alba means "dawn" in Italian and Spanish...the plant might have been discovered early in the morning. "Terra alba" is the name for a fine grained white clay...which might be descriptive of the soil where the orginal plant was discovered. Maybe one of these is the source of "alba".
