A pool of gravel on a rock, a glance on a Dyckia habitat.

Cacti love to share home with Dyckias. Here a Dyckia hebdingii related,
most probably a natural hybrid.

A depression like a basin on a rock is filled with gravel. The gravel comes from rock deterioration.
As the old rock decays gravel is formed.

The dead cacti are resulted by the fire. The beautiful Dyckia is a thirsty hebdingii related one.

In time or as the time passes by the rocky basin gets habitants, cacti, lichen, ferns...Dyckias.
Underneath this luxurious and soft moss cover, there is gravel.

White lichen is a constant company.

These cacti are extremely hard to live happily under cultivation, they demand very special care.

Images may reveal more than words.
