This is a Dyckia goehring sprout separated from each mother in February 6th, 2011.
It already has its own root system!
The time I removed this plant from its mother I also removed three other plants and a American friend visiting me took three of them as a gift to him and two other friends inUSA . The intrepid guy succeed in taking the plants out Brazil and into USA. One of my friends killed the plants in some four months, the other one sent no news to me and the one who took them up to California was successfully rewarded.
Well let us tell the "secret"!
True Dyckia goehringii is for the advanced soul in hard to root rare xerics.
Goehring is not a sardine issue but a large white shark matter.
Sprouts of the true Goehring take their time to set their own roots even when attached to their mother plant ( about 12 months after being tottally formed).
A year is what we must expect in all cases.
DO NOT USE ANY ROOTING MAGIC FORMULA, DRUGS or any other PRODUCTS!
USE JUST PLAIN EXTREMELY SOFT WATER. HARD WATER KILLS IT!!!
DEIONIZED WATER DOES PRETTY FINE...PURE, PLAIN!
Anchor the sprout on acid organic substrate and fix it firmly with bamboo sticks making X on the plant long trunk. Do not bury it!!!!!
Keep the plant well illuminated and spray its under leaves with warm deionized water as frequently as you can.
The plant drinks and feeds from the stomata present on the under leave surfaces.
The leaves will not wrinkle and within a year the plant is already walking on its own feet...roots!
Avoid being bold here. The plant is a rarity...and extremely hard to be seen even in pictures!!!
